A town in the province of Girona, Cadaqués is on a bay in the middle of the Cap de Creus peninsula. The whole area is part of the Costa Brava region. Just over two hours from Barcelona, it attracts many people. Not only tourists who visit the place, but also locals who wish to spend their free days in this region. The town is mainly inhabitant with fisherman. On Mondays, the town has a travelling market where one can buy a wide variety of good and products. Known as a city with a special place in the art history, it was home to many different world painters. For instance, Salvador Dali visited the town many times in his childhood. Before the town became a tourist destination, it was studied by famous psychologists like Ardre. Language wise, Cadaqués has its own dialect of Catalan language. It’s main tourist attractions are St. Mary’s church, the hermitage of Sant Sebastia and the natural park of Cap de Creus which is close by. The area is popular amongst tourist and during the summer period the total amount of inhabitants can quickly rise. However, Cadaqués always maintains its personality and will leave a lasting impression.
