An industrial area back in the day, Poblenou is now one of the cosiest and down-to-earth neighbourhoods in Barcelona. It borders and is quite similar to Villa Olimpica minus the many, many tourists. As it is less commercial and popular (as compared to Barceloneta for instance) you can truly enjoy a calm and quiet vacation on a budget there. The area is very open, filled with tons of light and close to Barcelona’s alternative beaches like Bogatell and Mar Bella. There you can enjoy relaxed days by sea, while enjoying the breeze. If you do, however, feel like a more crowded place, Barcelona beach is also really close and easily accessible by public transport. So is the rest of the city! Another thing the area is famous for is being very safe and family-friendly. There are plenty of green open spaces and parks to visit where you can enjoy Poblenou’s sunny and welcoming disposition. The main street of the area is Rambla del Poblenou - lined with beautiful modernista buildings and cosy pavement cafes where you can spend a lovely hour or two while chatting with friends and observing the locals. It is a delightful boulevard made for that locals often choose for strolling, shopping and meeting friends. Overall the ‘New Village’ is well worth staying at and is sure to provide you the comfort and serenity you need from a vacation.
